In a 2016 presidential election-themed spoof of “The Producers,” this Jimmy Kimmel Live sketch takes a look at the rise of Donald Trump’s political career, with the help of Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane. Similar to the plot of “The Producers,” Max Bialystock (Lane) and Leo Bloom (Broderick) need “the worst candidate in history” for their own financial gain. As the sketch points out, “It’s a story that starts out funny and then gets really, really depressing.” “The Producers” is a 1968 comedy directed by Mel Brooks and was remade in 2005, with Broderick and Lane. Check out “Springtime for Hitler,” one of the musical numbers from the movie. In a previous sketch on the show, Jimmy Kimmel’s team made a faux-political ad explaining why Donald Trump is “so great” – check it out here.
