“Evan Bayh just isn’t the same anymore,” the narrator in “Façade” this ad from the Todd Young campaign says. Young, a Republican running for U.S. Senate in Indiana, has been attacking his Democratic opponent Bayh for putting money and power before Hoosiers.
The 30-second ad shows an actor resembling Bayh heading into a TV studio in D.C. in order to shoot a political ad “pretending” he’s in Indiana. However, the set around him falls down as the faux-Bayh says, “I love Indiana.”
Additionally, one of his advisors reminds Bayh, “you don’t know Hillary.” “Hillary who?” the fake Bayh responds. This remark comes after weeks of Bayh trying to distance himself from the Democratic Party and position himself more as “independent.” However, it’s hard to escape his ties to Clinton after he campaigned with her during the 2008 presidential election – even starring in one of her political ads.
According to RealClearPolitics, Bayh is leading Young by 5.5 points – 46% to 40.5%. Young’s media team has been relentlessly using this attack against Bayh, but with less than two months until Election Day, they may need to switch their strategy to remain viable.
