Hillary Clinton is expected to finally choose her running mate by the end of the week and Former Virginia Governor and Chair of the Democratic National Committee Tim Kaine has made it on her short list.
Kaine has been a vocal supporter for Clinton and has joined her for two campaign events. During one of Clinton’s pit stops in Virginia, Kaine juxtaposed Clinton with Donald Trump, referring to her as the “you’re hired” president.
The ad begins with soft music and a close up of Kaine recounting his accomplishments as Governor during the recession from 2006 to 2010. “I worked with both parties to cut Virginia’s budget by $5 billion dollars. I cut my own pay to lead by example,” Kaine proudly declares.
Kaine moves on to announce that during his tenure as governor, Virginia was named the best state for business and the best state to raise a child, as we see the former Governor posing with businessmen and interacting with young children.
The feel good ad proved successful and Kaine preserved his undefeated electoral record, defeating Republican George Allen – former Governor of Virginia and US Senator – by about 6 points, 52.9% to 47%.
Vilsack already has close ties to the White House, having served as Agriculture Secretary under the Obama Administration since 2009.
