Less than an hour after Republicans in the House of Representatives voted to repeal Obamacare, MoveOn.Org, a key organization in what has become known as the "Resistance" to President Donald Trump, vowed that Democrats will "not forget" this vote in the lead up to the 2018 Midterm election.
That probably goes without saying, considering it has been 8 years since the Obama Administration passed health care reform and Republicans are still campaigning on it.
We have already seen some early signs of how Democrats will weaponize the Obamacare repeal vote to use against Republicans. One easy way is tying Republican Congresspeople to President Donald Trump. Thankfully for Democrats, Trump made a lot of promises during his campaign that are either unrealistic (at best) or most likely impossible. Tying Republican members of Congress to those broken promises will undoubtedly have an effect.
If you are curious about what other kinds of attacks the Democrats could use, just read through this ad – MoveOn.Org literally lists their future talking points.
"Republicans just voted to take away insurance from 24 million Americans," slash funds for Planned Parenthood, increase insurance costs, deny coverage to people with preexisting conditions, eliminate Medicaid expansion and "provide a tax cut to those making over $200,000 a year."
"We will not forget," the ad promises. "See you at the 2018 midterms."
If past is any precedent, MoveOn.Org probably isn't lying.
