Texas Sen. Ted Cruz got some good news recently, when the latest polls from Wisconsin showed him holding a comfortable 10% lead over Republican frontrunner Donald Trump.
Perhaps thanks to his good mood, his new ad airing in the Badger State is uncharacteristically positive for a candidate who has been wrapped up in a vicious dogfight with his primary rival for weeks.
“We will repeal Obamacare,” Cruz tells the camera, “peel back the EPA and all the burdensome regulations that are killing small businesses and manufacturing” – center staples of Cruz’s ideology.
Wisconsin’s 42 delegates are awarded on a winner-take-all basis, so a win for Cruz means more than just bragging rights. On one hand, it makes it much more difficult for Donald Trump to reach the 1,237 delegates needed to clinch the Republican nomination. On the other hand, if Ohio Gov. John Kasich loses yet another Great Lake State, it adds more weight to Cruz’s argument that he is just a one trick pony, that has no appeal outside of his own state.
Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker just threw his support behind Cruz as well. The former 2016 presidential hopeful has a sky-high approval rating with Republicans in his state, so for Cruz, the alliance is a welcome one.
So welcome in fact, the two might just stick together all the way into the general election… if Cruz can get there.

Wisconsin: 'Where The People Place Solutions Over Slogans'
The ad kicks-off with sunny stock videos of farms in Wisconsin, before jumping to Cruz, who says, “Our campaign is for the working moms, the truck drivers, the mechanics and the machinists with callouses on their hands.” We then see shots of blue-collar workers in auto factories and other manufacturing plants – the same types of blue-collar workers that usually flock to Trump.“We will repeal Obamacare,” Cruz tells the camera, “peel back the EPA and all the burdensome regulations that are killing small businesses and manufacturing” – center staples of Cruz’s ideology.
