Many candidates have crashed and burned trying to attack Donald Trump head on – but somehow Ted Cruz has largely been able to avoid crumbling at the knees of the Don.
Cruz’s latest ad is more of a direct shot on the New York billionaire, but in order to soften the blows, Cruz let a group of kids dish it out.
Ted Cruz says Donald Trump Doesn’t Play Nice
The ad is strangely reminiscent of a 1998 ad for
Jesse Ventura (Yes the wrestler – by the way did you know Donald Trump also spent some time in the Thunderdome?
Check it out).
We first see a young kid showing off his new Trump action figure as one of the boy’s impressed friends enviously responds, “no way, it’s YUUUUUUUGE” – one of Donald Trump’s catch phrases.
Then the boy shows off the neat trick his new Trump doll can do: “He pretends to be a Republican!” The kids got a kick out of that one.
The kids imagine different scenarios for their Trump, like, supporting “big bailouts for the banks,” giving money to “Pelosi, Reid and Anthony Weiner,” and paying off Hillary Clinton to be his “friend.”
The rambunctious play date ends with the boys playing “eminent domain”… which is just using the Trump doll to destroy a dollhouse. And as the concerned parents watch the unruly bunch savaging their dollhouse, the narrator asks “We wouldn’t tolerate these values in our children, why would we want them in a president?”
Trump and Cruz Have Both Won Major Battles, But the War Persists
Ted Cruz remains the chief opponent to Donald Trump nationally – even though Cruz’s win in Iowa was met with a swift defeat in the Granite State. Donald Trump has a
big lead in South Carolina but Cruz is
the second favorite for many conservatives in the state.
So we’ll see if the outsider candidates can learn to play nice – or just stick to rough housing.
