The fight to determine who loves Donald Trump the most continues in the Alabama Republican Senate special election primary. In the latest salvo, incumbent Sen. Luther Strange is accusing former judge Roy Moore that he opposes Trump's signature border wall proposal.
Against the crunch of hard rock guitars, the narrator declares, "Career politician Roy Moore wouldn't endorse Donald Trump. Now Moore opposes Trump's wall." (Text on the screen identifies Moore, who has run several times for district attorney and judicial posts, as a "40 year career politician.")
Fact-checkers at AL.com and Politifact that Moore's comment is truncated. The clip leaves out that Moore is supportive of wall if the military can't sufficiently stop illegal border crossings, but he believes a military response would be faster. He had said, "I think we need something to stop illegal aliens flowing across our borders ... I support using federal troops [and the] National Guard to stop this ... If it takes a wall, we should build it. I don't think it would take a wall. I think we should use the United States military."
But will anyone care about these pesky facts? Probably not.
The Strange campaign wants voters to question Moore's loyalty to Trump. And the Moore campaign wants voters to believe Strange is too loyal to Mitch McConnell. Which Washington politician voters like, or hate, most will likely determine the outcome.

Roy Moore Says The Military Is Better Than The Wall
A split screen shows Trump saying "if we have to close down our government, we're building that wall," then Moore saying "I don't think it would take a wall."Fact-checkers at AL.com and Politifact that Moore's comment is truncated. Maybe Trump Is The One Not Committed To The Wall
Also an odd choice by Strange's media consultants was the inclusion of Trump's shutdown threat, which he himself abandoned several days earlier when he agreed to a three-month government spending deal that did not include any money for the wall. But will anyone care about these pesky facts? Probably not.
