This weekend’s episode of Saturday Night Live begins with a “special Christmas message from the White House” featuring the Trump family and members of the president’s administration.
The cold open starts with First Lady Melania Trump (played by Cecily Strong) wishing the American people “Merry Christmas.”
“That’s right, you can finally say that again because the war on Christmas is over,” says President Trump (Alec Baldwin). “It will soon be replaced by the war with North Korea.”
From this point forward, a parade of administration officials and Trump children enter with baubles in hand.
Counselor to the President Kellyanne Conway (Kate McKinnon) presents an ornament featuring a photo of former FBI Director James Comey.
Trump responds, “Sadly, I had to fire Comey because he was a ‘nut job’ and because he knew all my secrets. So I had to pull a little ‘obstruction-ay of ustice-jay.’”
White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders (Aidy Bryant) follows, bearing ornaments displaying the photos of former Press Secretary Sean Spicer and the extremely short-lived former Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci, “whose mangled corpses I stepped over to get this job.”
Next up is Vice President Mike Pence (Beck Bennett). After mentioning that he dislikes the Christmas song “Deck the Halls” due to its lyric about “gay apparel” (which he’s “pretty sure is a mesh tank top”), Pence offers up an ornament of former National Security Advisor Mike Flynn, who pleaded guilty last month to lying to the FBI.
“The one I’ve brought is that traitorous Mike Flynn,” says Pence pointedly. “Because he lied to us, Mr. President, and he acted alone, without our knowledge.”
“I brought you a brand-new ornament,” explains Ivanka. “Roy Moore.”
Moore, the Alabama Republican and accused child molester, had been endorsed by Trump in last week’s special election to fill the U.S. Senate seat vacated by U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions. In a surprising upset, Moore was defeated by Democrat Doug Jones.
“Poor Roy. I thought for sure he would win,” says Baldwin’s Trump. “Until he lost. And then I said I thought he would lose.”
Trump’s sons Donald Jr. (Mikey Day) and Eric (Alex Moffat) also join the tree trimming, with the former showing off a paper chain representing “other people we lost this year.” The list includes former Chief of Staff Reince Priebus and former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort, whose indictment was announced in late October.
The camera then cuts to McKinnon, who has reappeared dressed in a red elf outfit and seated on the fireplace mantle.
“I’m not Elf on the Shelf. I’m Jeff Sessions…[and] I do not recall who’s been naughty and who’s been nice.”
Sessions’ contribution to the Christmas tree is an angel topper featuring a photo of none other than Special Counsel Robert Mueller, who is investigating an untold number of Trump administration officials and family members.
“He’s next!” exclaims Sessions. “We got to cut off the head to kill the snake.”
P.S. Leslie Jones also makes a couple of appearances in SNL’s cold open as recently-fired White House aide Omarosa Manigault-Newman. Be sure to watch the full video above to see Jones parody John Cusack’s character in the movie “Say Anything” as Omarosa attempts to get back in Trump’s good graces.

'Tree of Shame'
The couple turns its attention from war to holiday decorating, trimming what Trump calls a “tree of shame” with ornaments representing “all the haters and losers I destroyed this year.”From this point forward, a parade of administration officials and Trump children enter with baubles in hand.
