In his first TV ad of the general election campaign, Democratic Rep. Scott Peters takes on student loan debt.
The ad “Debt” kicks off with San Diego college students and recent graduates who share how much debt they have. Peters appears on the screen to share how this issue is “personal” to him. “My dad was a minister, my mom a secretary. Like most, I needed loans to afford college,” he adds.
Peters continues to explain how he’s working on incentives for companies to help their employees pay off their debt and trying to lower interest rates on student loans.
“College has got to be more affordable for everyone,” he ends.
According to his campaign, “Debt” will air on broadcast and cable stations in San Diego starting Wednesday and is the first candidate to go up on air in the race for California’s 52nd congressional district.
