North Carolina Democratic candidate for Governor, Roy Cooper, heads back to his hometown in Nash County in his second TV political ad, “Home.”
As we see images of his town, Cooper reminisces in a voiceover about the streets he grew up on and where he played football as a kid.
At the end, the ad focuses on Cooper who explains, “What we've lost is harder to see. I'm Roy Cooper and this election is not just about one bad law” – referring to the controversial House Bill 2 (HB2) law, considered by many to be discriminatory against members of the LGBT community.
Throughout the campaign, Cooper has targeted the negative impact that HB2 has had on the state’s image and economy while Republican incumbent challenger Pat McCroy has argued the opposite.
Cooper finishes the ad highlighting what his campaign is all about: helping North Carolina overcome the negative effects that HB2 has had on businesses and the economy by “bringing back our teachers, our jobs and the companies that have left.”
Cooper and McCrory have been neck and neck throughout the entire race with recent polls showing Cooper trailing only a fraction of a point behind McCrory.
