Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders have been much more aggressive with one another since the presidential primary turned to New York. Of course, they are nowhere near reaching the level of vitriol freely flowing in the Republican primary, but this Republican super PAC would love to change that.
America Rising PAC, led by former Mitt Romney campaign manager, Matt Rhoades, is starting to release attack ads against Clinton – by propping up her Democratic primary opponent.
The group’s latest pro-Sanders attack on Clinton focuses on amplifying her weakness with young voters. We see a montage of news reports all coming to the conclusion that “the big challenge for the Clinton campaign,” is figuring out how to win over and “woo” Sanders’ young and enthusiastic base.
And there is certainly some evidence to support the idea that Clinton has a youth vote problem – but she has been careful (so far) not to alienate Sanders supporters too much, since she will need at least some of them in the fall.
But it’s not like America Rising is trying to persuade progressive millennials to vote Republican if Sanders doesn’t get the nod – the PAC just wants to make sure the kids stay home on Election Day.
