America Rising, the conservative super PAC led by former Mitt Romney operatives, is back at it again – this time, painting Wisconsin senatorial candidate Russ Feingold as a lazy, backseat driver. “Senator Feingold: Backseat Driver” is a not-so-subtle swipe at Feingold’s recent campaign ad, which features the former Senator visiting with constituents in Wisconsin. The attack ad shows Feingold getting into the backseat of different cars to be chauffeured around by his staff – a far cry from the eager politician who personally drove to all 72 counties in the Badger State. Although Feingold is a seasoned politician who has steadily polled ahead of his Republican opponent Ron Johnson, he’s fighting tooth and nail to secure the seat he lost back in 2010. And in a state with a Republican-controlled legislature, ads like “Backseat Driver” could put a damper on Feingold’s comeback story.
