David Vitter is about to have an awful weekend.
This Saturday, Louisiana’s voters will start to see this ad from Democrat John Bel Edwards, obliterating his gubernatorial opponent, David Vitter, for his involvement in the 2007 D.C. Madam prostitution scandal.
The ad opens by highlighting Edwards’ military experience as an Army Ranger. Then it turns vicious. The narrator offers a choice – do voters want Edwards, who answered the nation’s call or “David Vitter, who answered a prostitute’s call minutes after he skipped a vote honoring 28 soldiers who gave their lives in defense of our freedom.”
“David Vitter chose prostitutes over patriots.”
Edwards has maintained a comfortable lead in the polls for weeks, and until now, he hasn't slung much mud.
But with only two weeks until Election Day, the Edwards campaign isn’t taking any chances.
USA Today reports the spot will run during the LSU game on November 7 – so it will have monster ratings in football obsessed Louisiana. This is one spot that will certainly keep Vitter on the defensive.
