Marco Rubio is
polling dangerously low in his home state of Florida – trailing Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump by about 20 points.
That’s why he is ending his
Super Tuesday campaigning at home – even though Florida doesn’t hold its presidential primary until March 15.
But now that fellow Floridian
Jeb Bush has dropped out of the race, Rubio has a bit of an opening to scoop up as much Spanish-speaking support in his home state as he can – hopefully helping to prevent a devastating home field defeat to Trump in two weeks.
Pro-Rubio PAC: Marco Rubio is the “Proud Son of Miami”
Conservative Solutions PAC recently rolled out this ad aimed at Spanish-speaking Floridians. In “Miami,” a narrator tells Florida’s Hispanics, “This time we can make one of our own be the next president. Marco Rubio, proud son of Miami. He knows our streets. Our communities. Our passions. Understands our dreams. Believes in our future.”
“Because he has never forgotten where he comes from,” the narrator ends, “He depends on us, Miami.”
Rubio’s
end-of-Super Tuesday rally is aptly labeled “Florida-kickoff,” so expect more Florida-focused ads to come from the Rubio camp.
