As the nation waits to hear whether or not Hillary Clinton will run for president in 2016, the Washington Post reports that "more than a dozen" pro-Hillary PACs have been formed without her direct involvement.
One of the latest ads is Stand With Hillary, which pledges to "Raise funds to invest in list-building and digital advertising in key battleground states where working families and Latinos will play a pivotal role."
To announce its arrival, Stand With Hillary produced a three-minute modern country music video.
Orozco’s latest is squarely aimed at the white working class, with a lead singer who drives a pick-up truck to his job at a construction site. And the lyrics start with the suggestion that Democratic voters made a mistake in the 2008 primary, running the risk of re-opening old wounds:
Lookin' back in time, learning hindsight's always right We came together in '08, a defining moment we all can celebrate And now it's 2016, and this time I'm a thinkin' Guys, put your boots on and let's smash this ceiling
The video also seeks to put an all-American-family-values sheen on the eventful Clinton marriage: "She's a mother, a daughter, and through it all, she's a loving wife."
As we know from the David Allen Coe song, You Never Even Call Me By My Name, the “perfect country and western song” has to say something about “momma or trains or trucks or prison or gettin' drunk.” Well, there’s an image of the truck in the video and a mention of moms, so more than halfway there.
