West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey, running in the Republican primary for the chance to face off against Sen. Joe Manchin, found a novel way to express his preference for "West Virginia conservatives values" over Washington, DC values. He depicted a West Virginian mountain lifting itself into the sky, flying to Washington, and crushing the U.S. Capitol.
Having established his conservative bona fides, Morrisey then says, "Let’s take on Washington with our West Virginia conservative values." The mountain behind him begins to loosen from the ground. Soon it's hovering over Washington, DC like an alien spaceship.
"Let’s not just change Washington," suggests Morrisey, "let’s blow it up and reinvent it.” The mountain then smothers the Capitol. "That's better!" cheers Morrisey, "We'll take on Washington liberals, keep their hands off our guns, stop their pro-abortion agenda."
But Morrisey wants voters to focus more on his anti-Obama lawsuits than his wife's vocation. Perhaps the spectacle of a flying mountain crushing the Capitol can do just that.
Patrick Morrisey Emphasizes His Anti-Obama Lawsuits
Behind an urgent orchestral score, and in front of a picture of the Seneca Rocks mountain, Morrisey says, “We fought Obama’s war on our jobs and our culture." A narrator then reminders viewers of Morrisey's successful lawsuits on behalf of the state government that blocked implementation of President Barack Obama's carbon emissions regulations and "illegal amnesty."Having established his conservative bona fides, Morrisey then says, "Let’s take on Washington with our West Virginia conservative values." But Is Morrisey's Wife Part of the Washington Swamp?
Morrisey's emphasis on fighting people in the Capitol who support gun control and abortion rights might cause him some problems. His wife is the co-owner of a Washington lobbying firm called "Capitol Counsel," the name of which is meant to convey, according to The Hill, "where the firm’s lobbyists earn their money: under the Capitol dome." And some of Capitol Counsel's clients have included the abortion rights group Planned Parenthood and the gun control group founded by former Rep. Gabby Giffords, Americans for Responsible Solutions. Morrisey's ad strongly suggests it's people like his wife on whom he wants to drop a proverbial mountain. But Morrisey wants voters to focus more on his anti-Obama lawsuits than his wife's vocation.
