Democrat Katie McGinty debuted her first TV political ad for the fall which takes aim at her opponent Republican Sen. Pat Toomey’s perceived strength – gun control.
Toomey made headlines two weeks ago when he received the endorsement of Americans for Responsible Solutions – a pro-gun control group founded by Gabby Giffords. The group supports candidates who support gun control legislation – typically Democrats – so their support for Toomey, a Republican, was a blow to McGinty.
McGinty is hoping to level the playing field on gun control in “Loophole” – by informing voters that Toomey sided with the NRA after the San Bernardino shootings.
“He voted against closing this loophole for terrorists, and with the gun lobby,” the narrator charges.
“We can’t risk our family’s safety on a loophole,” McGinty ends the ad.
“Loophole” will air in the Philadelphia market starting on Thursday.
