Arkansas is expected to be a hot spot in the upcoming election year in part because of Tom Cotton’s effort to unseat two-term Democratic Senator, Mark Pryor.
After a barrage of negative ads attacking Pryor for supporting the Affordable Care Act, Cotton is finally wising up to the strategy that got him elected to the House in 2012 – a strong focus on his personal history and military service in Iraq and Afghanistan. And that’s where his mother, Avis Cotton, comes into the picture.
In her recent endorsement, Mrs. Cotton says, “After Harvard, he gave up a great career to volunteer for the Army. They offered to make him a military lawyer, but Tom insisted on the infantry, just like his dad. We need people in Washington who do the hard things.”
If mother knows best, Cotton has a strong chance at winning the race next year. He’s neck-in-neck with Pryor in the polls, and recent news forecasts major GOP victories that might sway the Senate to the right.
