Colorado Senator Michael Bennet has been highlighting local towns throughout the state in his “Working for Colorado” digital ad series – and his latest installment features Red Cliff, Colorado.
Red Cliff Mayor Scott Burgess shares how Senator Bennet helped his town cut through federal bureaucracy with the USDA and save money.
“The last four years as mayor have been really challenging. The biggest challenge to start with was our water system. It was falling apart,” Burgess explains.
He continues to explain how the USDA loans were too expensive and the town needed to refinance – however, Burgess says the USDA wasn’t even picking up its phones.
“We’re not rich,” Burgess adds, “We live in small houses and we live very full, fun, rich lives, but we do it without a lot of money.”
With the help of Senator Bennet’s office, Red Cliff was able to get through to the USDA and the town can now save money.
