Toward the end of the first 2016 presidential debate, Hillary Clinton blasted Donald Trump for calling Alicia Machado, a former beauty contestant, "Miss Piggy" and a "housekeeper" because he believed she gained some weight and is Hispanic.
Clinton said at the first presidential debate, "[Trump] tried to switch from 'look' to 'stamina.' But this is a man who has called women pigs, slobs and dogs... And one of the worst things he said was about a woman in a beauty contest — he loves beauty contests — supporting them and hanging around them. And he called this woman Miss Piggy. Then he called her Miss Housekeeping because she was Latina. Donald she has a name. Her name is Alicia Machado. And she has become a U.S. Citizen... And you can bet she's going to vote this November."
Shortly after that comment, the Clinton campaign, clearly prepared, released this Spanish-language ad featuring Machado.
We see clips from her Miss Universe pageant, and even when Trump invited media to watch her work out because she gained too much weight. She talked about the humiliation she felt from the incident, and the interactions she had with Trump.
"This is a man who doesn't realize the damage he causes," Machado says in the ad. "He bears many grudges and harbors a deep racism, and he is convinced there are lesser human beings than him."
Clinton and her supporters have been highlighting firsthand accounts of people who dealt with Trump – including former model Rhonda Noggle and Paul Friel, whose father ran a cabinet business.
