The California U.S. Senate election is shaping up to be a hotly contested seat between Democrats Loretta Sanchez and Kamala Harris. With only a few weeks left until the primary, both Democratic candidates launched a slue of political ads within hours of each other.
While Harris highlighted her fearlessness and her high profile endorsements, Sanchez aims to sway voters with her foreign policy experience.
Sanchez’s ad “Only,” extols, "Loretta Sanchez is the only candidate with national security experience” – touting her position on the House Armed Services and Homeland Security committees, as well as her vote against the Iraq War.
The Sanchez campaign also released three Spanish-language ads in conjunction with “Only.”
Sanchez currently trails Harris by 11 points, but the two are expected to win the top two positions in California’s June 7 open primary – and face a tough fight all the way until November.
