Representative Loretta Sanchez, who faces a crowded field in the California U.S. Senate race, is hoping to appeal to Latino voters – who make up 38% of the state’s population and 17% of likely voters – with three new Spanish-language political ads.
“Líder” shows Sanchez explaining how she fought for immigration reform and to increase the minimum wage. She also promises to create jobs and education opportunities.
"I come from you and I'll fight for you," she says in Spanish.
“Familia” shows a picture of her family as she describes her parents as hardworking immigrants from Mexico.
Sanchez is currently 11 points behind her main competitor Democrat and California Attorney General Kamala Harris. Harris also released ads the same day as Sanchez – watch them here.
