The Hill is abuzz over the latest Republican Party squabble – the Cheney primary challenge in Wyoming.
Liz Cheney, daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, has decided to challenge incumbent Wyoming Senator Mike Enzi, who has served since 1997. Although she benefits from high profile name recognition and fundraising ability there are some serious questions if she can survive the counter punches sure to come, including the charge she’s not really Wyoming born-and-bred.
She’s playing political hardball despite the fact that a recent poll has Enzi up 52 points – 69% to 17%. It all gets a little more interesting if you are following the other squabble she’s having – the one with her own family. She recently disavowed her sister Mary who is openly gay, and even brought her father into the mix to set the record straight about his friendship with Enzi.
Not a great start. Let’s just say that if this election were a rodeo, Cheney would be thrown.
