Previously we shared with you Karen Handel's ad responding to jabs from two of her main Republican rivals for Georgia's sixth congressional district U.S. House seat. Now a fourth Republican candidate, Judson Hill, perhaps feeling a little left out, is taking a swipe at the other three, with an ad that hews very closely to what Handel just released.
Hill, in his ad "Meanwhile," offers a similar message. "My opponents brought the political circus to town," he scoffs, as Moody's ad plays on a nearby TV screen. Motioning to a mannequin wearing waders, as Gray wore in his ad, he dismisses "running around the swamp." Not having a similar gimmick to trash in the case of Handel, he skewers her past campaigns, calling her "desperate to avoid the third loss in a row."
The ad doesn't come close to actual plagiarism. But perhaps Hill's media consultants should find a new drawing board they want their candidate to stand out.
Karen Handel Knocks The Gimmicky Ads from Dan Moody and Bob Gray...
Handel mocked Dan Moody's "elephant" ad and Bob Gray's "Swamp" ad by having her overeager husband goofily copy them while giving her suggestions for campaign gimmicks. Handel portrays herself as the sober choice, saying, "The other guys in this race want to play games."Hill, in his ad "Meanwhile," offers a similar message. ...And So Does Judson Hill
Hill then ticks off his conservative credentials, pledging to defeat "radical Islamic terrorism" and repeal "Obamacare, as well as touting endorsements from Georgia Right to Life, Newt Gingrich and Sen. Marco Rubio. The ad doesn't come close to actual plagiarism. But perhaps Hill's media consultants should find a new drawing board they want their candidate to stand out.
