In a two-minute announcement video, Republican Josh Mandel announced his candidacy for United States Senate in Ohio.
Mandel covers his family history, his service in the Marine Corps, his time as Ohio Treasurer and his plans for Senate. “I’ll fight to bring term limits to Washington, to make sure the politicians answer to us, not to the lobbyists and the special interests.”
The Republican senatorial hopeful also channels President-elect Donald Trump in his announcement, using terms like “drain the swamp” and “rigged system” and promising to “never succumb” to political correctness.
Mandel ended up losing to Brown 50.7% to 44.7% in 2012, but the Republican candidate is hoping to run on the record he developed while serving six years a state treasurer in his 2018 campaign. Mandel also told Cleveland.com that he will show how “Brown's record makes him better-suited for more liberal states like California and Vermont.”
Looks like the 2018 senatorial race is setting up to be another vicious election.

Will Josh Mandel and Sherrod Brown Go Head to Head Again?
Towards the end of the video, Mandel explains, “Sherrod Brown will have a Washington machine behind him, and that’s why I need you to be the first to fight with us today.” Back in 2012, the race was one of the most expensive elections in the state’s history, at the time, and both sides ran some nasty attack ads.Mandel ended up losing to Brown 50.7% to 44.7% in 2012, but the Republican candidate is hoping to run on the record he developed while serving six years a state treasurer in his 2018 campaign.
