John McCain’s campaign launched a coalition of Democratic community leaders who support his reelection bid in November. The 30-second ad features former State Rep. Lydia Hernandez, Apache Junction Mayor John Insalaco and former Mayor of Phoenix Phil Gordon.
“John McCain has been there on every important issue,” former Mayor Gordon explains.
Former Rep. Hernandez adds, “Senator John McCain is experienced leadership, and is a leader on the immigration issue.”
McCain, who’s hoping to serve a sixth term in the U.S. Senate, battled through a challenging primary and now a tough general election fight against Democrat Ann Kirkpatrick.
Recent poll averages from RealClearPolitics shows McCain maintaining a steady lead – and he has an advantage with having more registered Republicans than Democrats in his constituency.
But the Kirkpatrick campaign is hoping to increase the number of newly registered Latino voters and garner support from moderate and independent voters – which may give her a competitive edge heading into November.
Along with the 30-second ad, the campaign launched DemsForMcCain.com, where Democrats can sign up to join McCain’s campaign.
