Arizona Senator John McCain’s media team released a new 30-second ad to contrast McCain to his Democratic opponent Ann Kirkpatrick.
The spot paints this election as a clear choice between “two very different candidates.” In the ad we see footage from Kirkpatrick’s 2009 “Chat with Ann” event where she “walked out on her constituents” after being asked about supporting Obamacare.
The clip is contrasted with McCain’s military service and the time he was a prisoner of war in Vietnam. “John McCain was given a chance to walk away once, when he was a POW. But McCain chose to stay in a prison camp until his fellow soldiers had their chance to go home,” the narrator explains.
According to RealClearPolitics’ average, McCain is ahead of Kirkpatrick 13.7 points – 49.7% to 36%. However, the two have been actively campaigning to win support from Latino voters. If Kirpatrick wins overwhelming support from this crucial voting group, she may have a chance to unseat McCain.
