During John Oliver's tour of obscure third party presidential candidates on HBO's Last Week Tonight, he alerted America to the independent candidacy of Joseph Allen Maldonado, or as he prefers to be called, Joe Exotic.
Exotic, who is on the ballot in Colorado and has write-in status in 10 other states, is campaigning mainly with extended rants on his YouTube channel. But he has produced one video that somewhat resembles a traditional political ad, in which he promises to fight for the rights of exotic animal owners.
Joe Exotic, introduced as the "world renowned animal expert and country music artist," appears on camera and declares "SWAT teams are being moved into people's homes, and guns pointed at women and children, simply over... people wanting to control animals." He throws in opposition to Social Security benefit cuts and "free welfare being handed out, instead of deserved."
After seeing Joe Exotic, you'll have to agree: America may have many problems, but it is not lacking in choices for President.
Joe Exotic, He's Broke...
Oliver introduced Exotic as one "who claims to run the world's largest private zoo for tigers... and produces incredible campaign videos," then showed clips of Exotic wearing a fringe jacket amongst some of his tigers saying, "I'm not cutting my hair. I'm not changing the way I dress... I'm broke as s**t. I have a judgment against me from some b**** down there in Florida."Exotic, who is on the ballot in Colorado and has write-in status in 10 other states, is campaigning mainly with extended rants on his YouTube channel. …And He's Fighting the Rights of Exotic Animal Owners
"Your rights as an exotic animal owner are being taken away" says a narrator, over stills of lions and tigers. The narrator criticizes an Ohio ban against owning such animals, and claims the law has "stripped [animals] away from their loving homes" making them suffer from "depression, anxiety, loss of appetite. In most cases, they die."Joe Exotic, introduced as the "world renowned animal expert and country music artist," appears on camera and declares "SWAT teams are being moved into people's homes, and guns pointed at women and children, simply over... people wanting to control animals." He throws in opposition to Social Security benefit cuts and "free welfare being handed out, instead of deserved."
