Hold on to your newsboy caps – Jim Barksdale is running as the Democratic candidate for Georgia’s U.S. Senate seat.
Barksdale is centering the campaign on his signature look – a newsboy cap – seen in his logo and even featured in his political ad, “Get Your Own.”
The spot shows people putting on the hat as Barksdale narrates, “It’s time for people who work for a living in Georgia to have their own senator.” He supports cutting waste, investing in education, lowering drug prices and apparently everyone sporting a newsboy hat.
Barksdale is expected to secure the nomination, because he has directed more than $1 million of his own money into his campaign and is backed by the Democratic Party.
The Democrats are hoping Barksdale’s outsider status as an investment manager will help him secure the nomination, and be a tough challenger to incumbent Republican Senator Johnny Isakson.
