As soon as Hillary Clinton began pivoting to the general election, Bernie Sanders made a clean sweep through Hawaii, Washington and Alaska last weekend, blowing Clinton out of the water in every contest.
But it’s not like the Clinton campaign is going to let the “Bernie-mentum” continue – so her team is blanketing the airwaves with $100,000 worth of ad buys in Wisconsin, the next state to hold a Democratic primary.
The campaign is airing three different ads in the state. One narrated by Morgan Freeman and another focusing on the pharmaceutical industry have already appeared in other states, but her new ad, “Work Hard,” is making its debut in Wisconsin.
We hear a clip from Clinton speaking at February’s Democratic debate in Milwaukee, where she says, “You know, in America if you work hard you’re supposed to be able to get ahead no matter who you are, or where you started out.”
She then lists a few of the “barriers” Americans face, like student debt, stagnant wages and high unemployment. Although in the face of these challenges “CEO pay keeps going up” and Wall Street and major corporations continue their indifference and negligence.
“That’s what I want to take on… because I think America can only live up to its potential when we make sure that every American has a chance to live up to his or her potential.”
The Wisconsin Democratic Primary will take place April 5.
