Remember when Donald Trump ditched a Republican debate in order to hold his own rally to raise money for veterans? He said he made $6 million at that rally, but the only problem was that none of it went to any veterans… until the Washington Post called him out for it.
On May 23, after being hounded by the Post’s reporters, Trump made a $1 million donation to various veterans’ organizations. Yesterday, he held a press conference in New York to announce where the remainder of the $6 million was distributed.
Trump intended for the press conference to focus on veterans’ issues and how he would change things as president. Except Trump trailed off and spent his time railing against what he called the “dishonest” and “sleazy” media for doubting that he was going to donate.
