The dust has barely settled in South Carolina, but there’s no time to relax. The Democratic presidential primary now moves on to Super Tuesday, when Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders will compete for delegates from eleven states, American Samoa, and Democrats Abroad. Planned Parenthood Action Fund is hoping to keep Hillary Clinton’s momentum going by backing her with a million-dollar ad buy, including digital ads, mail, and phone calls. This video, entitled “Hillary Clinton Is Our Champion,” focuses on Republican efforts to defund Planned Parenthood, and Clinton’s strong defense of the organization. The new Planned Parenthood ad buy is hardly a surprise. Hillary Clinton has been a vocal defender of the group’s work for decades. And in response, Planned Parenthood extended Clinton its first endorsement in a presidential primary in the organization’s history. Planned Parenthood is launching the campaign in Texas, Virginia, and Michigan, three of the five biggest Democratic contests between now and mid-March (the others being Georgia and Massachusetts). Texas and Virginia will head to the polls on March 1st as part of the “SEC Primary,” and Michigan votes the follow week on March 8th. While Texas wouldn’t be considered a Democratic stronghold by any means, the abortion issue has notably attracted attention here before, most notably with Texas State Senator Wendy Davis’ famous filibuster. It wasn’t enough to win Davis the governor’s mansion, but could boost Clinton in a Democratic primary.
