After California Assemblywoman Shannon Grove announced she was not seeking reelection, Bakersfield native and Republican Ernie Gollehon announced his bid for California’s State Assembly District 34.
In Gollehon’s campaign announcement video, the candidate takes us back to the fields where it all started for his family – the oil fields.
In the three-and-a-half-minute video, Gollehon explains his background and how his passion for firefighting and law enforcement encouraged him in his work for the correctional system for 27 years.
With terrorism at the top of his mind, Gollehon explained, “Case in point: look at San Bernardino. That right there is right in our back door. We need to train our first responders and give them all the tools they need.”
He would also fight to bring more water to Kern County and lessen the regulation on the oil industry.
“You’ve got to be an advocate and fight for their needs to be productive, to keep their engines moving whatever it might be. With oil, it’s the regulations,” Gollehon commented.
The California primary is on Tuesday, June 7, and Gollehon faces three other candidates. Stay tuned as we follow the latest political ads from the campaign trail.
