For most of the 2016 political campaign, President-elect Donald Trump did not release many traditional political ads – especially compared to his rival Hillary Clinton who outspent him on the airwaves nearly 9 to 1.
Instead the New York billionaire and reality TV star turned politician relied on his already existing celebrity, a lot of free media from the press, and of course his Twitter account, where he could blow off steam on, say, Jon Stewart at 1:30 in the morning.
But President-elect Trump tried his hand at a few other social media platforms before falling in love with Twitter – most hilariously, he had a short stint on Vine… ant it’s about as funny as you would expect it to be.
Trump’s Vine account still exists, but the posts have been removed. Thankfully Business Insider’s Devan Joseph was able to resurrect a few of Trump’s Vines and compiled some of the best ones into a video.
In the videos, Trump bashes President Obama and Obamacare and calls Anthony Weiner a “pervert.” He also thanks the rapper Mac Miller “for the crummy gift” – a framed record of his single “Donald Trump.” But he also tells Miley Cyrus not to let all the haters get her down because “they are all jealous.” He ought to know.
Between ripping on President Obama and Anthony Weiner, to calling out random celebrities over social media, you might think this clips came from the 2016 campaign trail. Sadly, no.
Maybe some things don’t change.
