Yesterday, news broke that during a bipartisan meeting in the Oval Office about the future of the DACA program, President Donald Trump asked why the U.S. continues to take in more people from places like Haiti and Africa, referring to these places as “shithole countries.”
Like all things having to do with Trump, he had his supporters – the usual suspects like Rep. Steve King and Tomi Lahren defended the president. But most people with a conscience were rightly repulsed what they saw as the president’s heartless and racist comments.
As the video points out, we live in a world in crisis. Should we continue to perpetuate it, or work to alleviate it? That's a serious question of our time.
After all these years, that’s the one thing that has never failed to make us great.
The president may not understand that, but plenty of the American people still do.

The UN Shows Why We Help Each Other
This video from the UNHCR – the United Nations Refugee Agency – is a few years old. But much of the troubled areas of the world featured in it, are still areas in dire need of help.As the video points out, we live in a world in crisis. The Shining City On a Hill
So, Mr. President, let us explain. There’s a reason we open our doors to people across the world who need our help. There’s a reason that people who yearn to be free to should be welcomed to our shores. America is a country made of immigrants – the descendants of people from nowhere who were destined to create their own future, rather than have it be dictated to them. After all these years, that’s the one thing that has never failed to make us great.
The president may not understand that, but plenty of the American people still do.
