45Committee, a Trump-friendly 501(c)4 organization that accepts anonymous donations, is running ads to defend Donald Trump's most controversial cabinet appointees, including embattled Education Secretary nominee Betsy DeVos.
The Michigan power player and conservative school reform activist has generated thousands of phone calls to Senators opposing her confirmation on the grounds she will undermine public education.
"Across the country, too many kids are trapped in failing schools," says a soothing female narrator. "We need to shake things up. That’s what Betsy DeVos will do as Secretary of Education."
Over a simple montage of stills and videos of Devos, the narrator describes her as "A thirty-year education reform leader, DeVos is committed to strengthening public education, increasing accountability and expanding opportunity for disadvantaged students. Betsy DeVos won’t let Washington hold our kids back.”
There's little indication that Republican Senators would abandon Trump's nominee, but with the swell of phone calls opposing her, she could use some reinforcements in the TV ad wars.
