Democrat Evan Bayh released “Independence,” a 30-second political ad, to show he’ll put Hoosiers before his Party.
Since he entered the race, Bayh – who was an ardent Hillary Clinton supporter in the past – has been trying to distance himself from the Democratic Party.
“Independence” highlights a few times Bayh worked with Republicans or broke from the Democratic Party in order to help Indiana. He explains how he voted against raising electric bills, even though his Party was in favor of increasing taxes. Bayh also adds that he worked with Republicans to balance the budget when he was governor.
“The bottom line: I don’t answer to party leaders or any president. I answer to the people of Indiana,” Bayh explains.
On the other hand, the National Republican Senatorial Committee released an attack ad trying to contradict Bayh’s “bipartisan record.”
The attack ad “Rewind” claims Bayh “towed the Obama Party line 96% of the time” – and even casted the “deciding vote” for the Affordable Care Act.
The Indiana senate election is neck-and-neck between Bayh and Republican Todd Young. Take a look at some of the other ads airing in the race.
