Zephyr Teachout is bringing a new weapon to the dogfight for New York's 19th congressional district, a registered "Conservative" father who lives with three Republican family members who are all voting for Teachout.
In a three-minute online ad, "Jerry" tells the story, in a thick Long Island accent, of how a gas pipeline company called Constitution was able to seize part of his property, over his objections, through eminent domain with the support of area Republicans.
Jerry then unloads on the Republican candidate John Faso, "When he was out of politics he did the lobbyist game. To me, the lobbyist is a bottom-feeder." Video is then shown of Faso lobbying for the pipeline at a county Board of Supervisors meeting, where he admits to being a paid representative for Constitution.
Jerry reacts, "If anything is going to get better we have to send somebody different, somebody else instead of these life-long politicians, back and forth down to Washington, to Albany. We need some new blood."
Guns are tricky issue for Teachout, as Faso has charged her with flip-flopping on New York's recent gun control law to be more in line with the district's gun owners. But Jerry might be able to give her some cover.

Conservative Voters Back Teachout
"Every Republican politician in my district was for the pipeline, claimed it was going to create jobs – and all the research, it's all lies," rails Jerry, as the camera shows a homemade sign on his property, "Danger: Possible Pipeline Explosion."Jerry then unloads on the Republican candidate John Faso, "When he was out of politics he did the lobbyist game. Do Republicans Put Gun Rights Over Property Rights?
He even rips Republicans for being inconsistent on individual rights: "They always cry about gun rights, gun rights – where are they when they are taking people's properties away? Protect our property rights just as hard as you protect gun rights. Zephyr Teachout will do that." He then proclaims he will be voting Democrat for the first time.Guns are tricky issue for Teachout, as Faso has charged her with flip-flopping on New York's recent gun control law to be more in line with the district's gun owners.
