Freedom Partners Action Fund, the Koch brothers-backed super PAC, launched a $1.2 million TV and digital ad campaign centered on Nevada Democrat Catherine Cortez Masto’s controversy with Uber.
As Nevada Attorney General, Cortez Masto fought Uber in court when the company first launched in her state in 2014. According to her campaign, Uber was operating without a license and she was enforcing laws to protect passenger safety.
Freedom Partners Action Fund, on the other hand, is using this court case to claim that Cortez Masto is influenced by special interests. According to the ad, she battled Uber to help out the taxi companies since they donated over $70,000 to her campaign.
Not only that, the 30-second ad wraps up and explains how she lost jobs, “put campaign donors ahead of Nevadans and protected special interests instead of us.”
The ad fails to mention that although Uber left the state, it is now back in parts of Nevada.
The ad “Driving Away Jobs” will run for three weeks digitally and on TV starting Wednesday.
