House Speaker Paul Ryan may have caved and admitted that “Obamacare is the law of the land,” after his party failed to repeal it, but some conservative groups aren’t so sure.
The original repeal effort died when congressional leadership and the White House couldn’t find a way to broker a deal between moderate Republicans in the House and the party’s far right fringes in the House Freedom Caucus. But now the White House – and specifically Vice President Mike Pence – is getting closer to finding a compromise that might convince everyone to try repealing Obamacare again.
Hoping to grease the wheels and convince conservative Republicans to work with the Trump Administration, conservative group Club for Growth will air this ad nationally while members of Congress return to their home districts for Easter recess.
“He led a movement to make us great again, now he’s doing what he said,” an upbeat narrator says at the start of Club for Growth’s new ad, “End Obamacare.” “Working with conservatives on a better bill that lowers premiums, cuts taxes and repeals Obamacare.”
“Conservatives are working to get it done,” she continues as we see a shot of Freedom Caucus Chairman and North Carolina Rep. Mark Meadows. “Tell congress to support Trump’s plan to get rid of Obamacare,” the narrator concludes as Trump shouts from behind a podium, “We gotta’ get it done!”
Many of the same districts that Club for Growth will target, will also be targeted by Save My Care and Bridge Project – two pro-Obamacare groups whose message is exactly the opposite of Club For Growth’s: they want to save Obamacare, not trash it.
So it looks like even two years after Barack Obama leaves office, voters can still expect plenty of Obamacare debate leading up to the 2018 midterm elections.

Club for Growth Wants Congressional Republicans and the White House to Play Nice
Club for Growth started out on the anti-Trump side of things – but eventually they jumped on the Trump train. Now the group enthusiastically backs the President (even if it’s just because he seems like a suitable vessel for their policy goals).“He led a movement to make us great again, now he’s doing what he said,” an upbeat narrator says at the start of Club for Growth’s new ad, “End Obamacare.” “Working with conservatives on a better bill that lowers premiums, cuts taxes and repeals Obamacare.”
