Last summer, when the GOP was still happily stacking their candidates 10 to a debate stage, nearly everyone got a chance to throw punches at their fellow Republicans.
But even in the fog of campaign warfare, friendship can blossom. And now former presidential candidate Carly Fiorina is hitting the stump for fellow fallen 2016 presidential comrade, Rand Paul.
Paul is currently running to keep his Kentucky Senate seat. And he faces a serious possibility of losing in November to his Democratic opponent, Lexington Mayor Jim Gray.
In the meantime, Ed Crane, the co-founder of the Cato Institute who ran a seven-figure super PAC for Paul, announced he was going to revive the PAC… for Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson.
So with such a tight path ahead, is bringing Fiorina on the campaign trail really such a good idea for Paul?
After all, she got her first Republican fundraising gig with failed presidential candidate John McCain. Then she went on to run a failed Senate campaign in California. Then of course came her failed presidential bid, which was quickly followed by a short – but not so sweet – tenure as Ted Cruz’s vice presidential pick.
Well, maybe Paul’s campaign is hoping Fiorina finds her magic touch this time around.
