Delegate math has Bernie Sanders in a bind. Even though he won Indiana last week and West Virginia tonight, Sanders will still fall further behind Hillary Clinton in the delegate count, making his slim path to the Democratic nomination even more unlikely.
This has caused a visible shift in the Vermont Senator’s rhetoric on the campaign trail – and in his ads. He has all but started ignoring his primary rival Hillary Clinton, and has instead focused more energy on Donald Trump.
Bernie Sanders has a knack for making promises that liberals love to hear. In this ad tweeted by his campaign, Sanders promises “Donald Trump will not be president of the United States.” One can almost hear a collective sigh of relief among liberals nationwide.
He explains further: “Trump will not be elected president because the American people instinctually, and in a very deep sense, know that bringing our people together… will always trump dividing us up.”
The Vermont Senator ends with what sounds like it will become a newly-adopted campaign slogan: “And most of all, we will defeat Donald Trump because we know that love trumps hatred.”
But don’t hold your breath for Sanders’ full-throated endorsement of Clinton either. Sanders and his surrogates have said that no matter what happens in the primary, the campaign is committed to making any Republican – especially Trump – flops in the general election this fall.
Whether that means Sanders will become a loyal soldier in the Clinton army, or join the Stop Trump wave, remains to be seen. But either way - the Democratic primary seems to be winding down and becoming more civil.

Political Revolution, or Party Unity?
