Zephyr Teachout, Democratic candidate in New York’s 19th congressional district, launched her first TV political ad in the general election.
With a 30-second timer running in the background, Teachout explains to voters how most ads don’t say anything because 30-seconds is not enough time, and frankly “politicians just don’t think you’re very smart.”
“I'm Zephyr Teachout and I think you are,” she responds. Teachout continues to explain how she’s an “economic patriot” – running to bring jobs home, support local farming and make things in America again.
She makes a pitch for voters to check out her web videos on her site (you can watch them here) to learn about her positions on the environment to local farms to equal pay.
Teachout ends, “Most campaigns treat you like you’re dumb – I never will.”
“Zephyr literally wrote the book on political corruption. She understands better than anybody how special interests try to buy off politicians, and she’s dedicated her life to fixing our broken political system,” reads Sanders’ campaign email for Teachout.
Since the beginning of her campaign, Teachout has raised over $1.6 million dollars.
Zephyr Teachout will face Republican John Faso in November.
