And John Boehner is no stranger to political ads, uploading short videos to his official YouTube account almost weekly. But the latest clip to be featured doesn’t actually have any political content – in fact, it’s mostly just weird.
The video, “A Strange Statue,” shows the Speaker of the House discussing a statue of President Abraham Lincoln talking to a ‘modern day citizen’ that one of Boehner’s staff found while visiting Gettysburg. And, as Boehner says, “the modern day citizen happens to look exactly like me.”

The video shows a photo of a younger, preppier Boehner juxtaposed with an image of the figure in the statue, and while we can admit that they look sort of similar, we’re not quite sure why Boehner decided to make his statue doppelganger national news.
The 40-foot statue, “Return Visit” by J. Seward Johnson was dedicated in 1991 – the year Boehner was first elected into office – and is currently on display in Troy, Ohio for a biannual art exhibit.
