After all the scandal, we aren’t very “schocked” that Congressman Aaron Schock is resigning from the United States House of Representatives. The past few months, news outlets began uncovering that Congressman Schock was spending his federal funds in a not-so-ethical way – anything from extravagant meals to spending money on private flights to a Chicago Bears game. One thing is for sure: he was having the time of his life!
Unfortunately, the party must come to an end and he resigned from the House. Don’t worry, we have a feeling that we’ll see Aaron Schock again – whether it is gracing the cover of another health magazine or on reality tv or maybe running for office again after everyone forgets about this scandal.

However, thanks to his lavish lifestyle, we have learned a few things from Mr. Schock:
- If House Ethics does not allow you to do certain things, like fly on private jets, spend taxpayer money on Katy Perry concert tickets for your interns, etc, then do not post it on your Instagram.
- Don’t decorate your office to exactly replicate a television show, especially Downton Abbey. If you do, then don’t invite the media to come and take pictures.

- In your resignation speech in the House, you probably shouldn’t compare yourself to Abraham Lincoln.
- And finally, as an elected official, when you’re commenting on a story, it’s probably good to avoid quoting Taylor Swift saying, “Haters gonna hate.”
