Today Hillary Clinton hit the road in New Hampshire and made a pit stop at a local brewery, Smuttynose Brewing Company.
Raise Your Glass for the Middle Class
It’s common for presidential candidates to make a pit stop at a pub or brewery on their road trips. Many voters want a candidate they can drink a beer with, and these photo ops reinforce that they’re “one of us” and can swig or chug just like the rest of us.
Appealing to the “everyman” can be a fun break from policy debates, but a pit stop for a roadie can be dangerous for every candidate. One bad photo chugging a beer or looking “drunk”… and it will haunt the candidate and the campaign for the rest of the election.
Imagine that moment during the practice round of beers when the campaign staff is coaching the candidate on the best way to drink a beer for the camera… That would be funny to watch.
Stumping in New Hampshire
New Hampshire has been a hot state for presidential candidates this month. Carly Fiorina, Ben Carson, Jeb Bush, Scott Walker, Rick Perry, Jim Webb, Martin O’Malley – and even George Pataki have visited the Granite State in recent weeks.
Why? Because New Hampshire is the first state to have it’s 2016 primary election – and it receives a vast amount of media attention because of it.
Hillary has been stumping around the state with her small business owner economic agenda. She hosted a round table with business owners, and handed over her Twitter account to small biz owner and working mom Mary Jo Brown. But what got the most media attention was when she broke her silence after 28 days with the media.
