I served on the PUSD Board of Education back when the District’s deservedly outstanding reputation was being built. The recent negative publicity is saddening and not beneficial for students or teachers, although many dedicated teachers continue doing their usual good job of educating students.
I want to put my previous 13 years of board member experience and conservative values back to work to help get the District on the right track again.
Although spell check and other aids are available on the computer, some measure of academic rigor is still necessary. It is also necessary that students learn to think. There is too much pressure on overall test scores and too much teaching to the test.
I support vocational education for the good job opportunities.
My engineering expertise helped me build consensus on Board issues during my tenure and will be a valuable resource.
I will explore every possibility of overturning the toxic bond issue, although that may prove impossible.
Your School Board needs new blood. It also needs an experienced, steady hand on the wheel. I offer that experienced, fiscally responsible steady hand and I ask for your vote to help get the PUSD back on the right track.
