Phil Ting is the incumbent Democratic Assemblyman serving California’s 19th district.
Assembly District 19 consists of the western half of San Francisco County and the northern parts of San Mateo County.
In 2005, Mayor Gavin Newsom appointed Ting as the Assessor-Recorder of San Francisco. Prior to serving in that office, he was the Executive Director of the Asian Law Caucus and served as President of the Bay Area Assessors Association and President of the San Francisco chapter of the Organization of Chinese Americans.
Throughout his career he has launched several initiatives including GoSolarSF, ChinaSF and Reset San Francisco. Ting is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley and the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. He lives in San Francisco Sunset District with his wife and their two daughters.
