Kevin Mullin is the incumbent Democratic candidate for District 22 of the California State Assembly. District 22 encompasses Belmont, Brisbane, Foster City, Hillsborough, Millbrae, Montara, Pacifica, Redwood City, San Bruno, San Carlos, San Mateo, and South San Francisco.
Mullin is a 4th generation San Mateo County native. He received a B.A. in Communications from the University of San Francisco, and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from San Francisco State University. Then completed an executive leadership program at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. As an entrepreneur he created KM2 Communications, a multi-media productions business in South San Francisco.
In 2007, Mullin was elected to the South San Francisco City Council and was then re-elected in 2011, serving as Mayor that same year. He also represented the cities of San Mateo County on the Metropolitan Transportation Commission. In 2015, Mullin was recognized as the “Regionalist of the Year” by the Bay Area Council. That same year he was also awarded the Public Service Award from the University of San Francisco.
