Frank Bigelow is the incumbent Republican candidate for the California 5th Assembly District race, which encompasses Gold Country and Central Sierra Nevada. The Bigelow family has roots in Gold Country dating back over 200 years. Bigelow takes pride in preserving and upholding the rural way of life set by those early settlers. Bigelow’s great grandparents first settled in Madera County to establish a cattle and sheep ranch, and created the first telephone company for the early settlers of California – of which Frank Bigelow now serves as Vice President.
In addition to being on the California State Assembly and serving as Vice President of the Ponderosa Telephone Company, Bigelow also works on his family’s cattle farm from time to time, and volunteers with his local fire station as a trained firefighter. Bigelow served for 14 years on the Madera County Board of Supervisors before being elected to the Assembly seat in 2012.
